Las Vegas Ballpark Parking Will Be Free

LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - If you're used to paying big money to park at a pro sports event, the Las Vegas Aviators are ready to throw you for a curve. Parking at the team's new Las Vegas Ballpark home in Summerlin will be free, the team announced Monday.

The team, which opens their inaugural season Apr. 9, unvealed parking plans Monday, including three designated Las lots immediately adjacent to the east, southeast and south of the ballpark. Combined, these lots have an estimated capacity of more than 2,500 vehicles.

Ballpark spokeswoman Melissa Warren told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that with free parking located all around the field location, charging to park at the stadium wasn't right and would flood the nearby free lots.

Drivers were charged $5 for parking during the Las Vegas 51s' final season playing at Cashman Field last year.

Downtown Summerlin valet is the official Rideshare location for the new stadium, with guests using Rideshare services directed to the Dining Arroyo at downtown Summerlin to be picked up after an event.

Overflow surface lot parking is located on the west side of Downtown Summerlin’s retail area. An enhanced walkway has been identified from that area of the parking lot through Downtown Summerlin to Las Vegas Ballpark.

Officers with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and third-party vendor Parking and Transportation Group-Las Vegas will oversee traffic in and out of Ballpark-controlled lots.

Traffic control personnel will be in place to assist with crossing Pavilion Center Drive before, during and after events.
