Raiders Draft Tracker 2019: Could Raiders Lose Their Impact Defender?

April 23, 2019 - 9:59 am

LAS VEGAS (KXST) - It’s upon us.  The week of the NFL Draft.

The Raiders still hold three picks in the first round at no. 4, 24 and 27.   We’ve been tracking the experts' analysis on what the Raiders will do with those picks since the Super Bowl, and there’s only one thing the experts have in common: disagreement.

Alabama run stopper Quinnen Williams remains the consistent, consensus choice for the Raiders at no. 4.  However, here’s the issue: his stock keeps rising -- to the point where it appears the Cardinals, Jets and 49ers are now taking harder looks at taking Williams with one of the top three picks.  He’s a top-4 guy, for sure.

Whether it's Williams or not, defense still seems to be the pick at this juncture, with long armed Kentucky pass rusher Josh Allen, Mississippi State mainstay Montez Sweat and Michigan motor Rashan Gary among the other favorites.

Meanwhile, a handful of mocks still believe Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray will end up with the Raiders at no. 4.

The 24th selection keeps swinging between offense and defense.  Alabama RB Josh Jacobs slots in nicely here, but there’s also growing support for Iowa TE Noah Fant.  LSU’s Greedy Williams and Washington’s Byron Murphy are two cover corners also heavily discussed at this spot.

As for no. 27, Jacobs and Fant could stick around and still be selections this deep into the first round.  Boston College guard Chris Lindstrom seems to be making a move into consideration, as is Florida State pass rusher Brian Burns.
